I think I hafta disclaimer all of this ’cause while I can ‘claim’ the bits that Kent, Ross and the audio team did.. it was 22 years ago so if I refer to other trades and get it wrong I apologies. This is just my version….
So..
The thang I first think of… and such a vivid memory.. is the drawings that David.W-F showed me from Intamin. What the…!!
“We’re gonna make it into…. an Alien invasion …. !” he says.
And off they went..
Fast forward a bit, construction stuff, shit happened and some ‘where does that bit go?’… and somewhere the audio system got a mention.. buncha meetings and submissions, I think it was like “Yes Go! wait what? money WHAT?! jeebs expensive fark umm” … and HEY !! the home boys get the gig…
Here’s my list of Audio specific bits we did for the Space Probe ..
Each ‘tunnel’ was fitted with four ‘mini-Dino’ speaker enclosure to fit into overhead ‘beam’ structures. 3 Video monitors looped a dire msg of the impending doom…
There was a fog machine in the third tunnel for about 3 weks until the punters complained of asphyxia.. ppht softies
In the “Pre-load” room there were 4 ‘Canon’ ( made by … yep surprised me too.. as in camera Canon ) 90 deg “wedges”.. these buggers were LOUD !!. 2 mounted below the Monitors, 2 above. 4 x 8 inch ceiling speakers of ‘I can’t remember’ brand, at high volume… they were gated and passed into a deep reverb channel to mess with ppl’s ears. The effect was triggered as the Ride Op’s speil got louder.
